This is my Guernica.
The painting is about reverse culture shock, the life of a commuter and urban (as well as suburban) development. It tells three stories simultaneously: a personal story, about my move back from Europe to this strange new place where I was born called the USA, a universal story, a cross-section of the day-to-day world we experience on the way from point A to point B, and finally, an accidental story, the story of our impact on the environment and each other - an intersection of natives and transplants familiar to most Charlotteans.
