My Artist Statement

Painting, for me, is a universal and a personal experience. 

As I travel I feel the limits of language and cultural differences.

Art takes us beyond limits and barriers: 

it conjures universal themes, 

it sparks memory, 

it evokes the emotional complexity of an instant. 

Intense colors provoke emotion; 

overlapping lines create ambiguous spaces to establish a mood; 

and a personal visual vocabulary 

all come together to tell a story. 

My work strives to break through boundaries 

of time and culture 

to capture 

the universal nature 

of individual human experience.
